On the occasion of women's reservation bill
Women's Reservation Bill, ensuring 33% reservation to women in Parliament and state legislative bodies, is it really required?
Well, I am certainly not in favor of any kind of reservation. Capable people should be holding the deserving positions in any of the system of this country whether its parliament, defense, medical science, education system or in any other damn system.
I do agree in India still there are places especially in rural areas women are dominated by men. They are deprived of the opportunities. But reservation is not the solution for this. Running programs to encourage women to explore the opportunities, educating them, giving concessions or providing additional facilities, making them aware of their rights is the way to empower them. If they don’t have the potential to do right justice to their responsibilities they are going to fail even after reservation.
They might become puppets and someone else would operate them. Men who may not contest the election for being quota system ask their ladies to contest and eventually rule the world according to them. Do we want to see more Rabdidevis everywhere?

Alchemist - Is it only about following dreams?
Alchemist the amazing book. The author has succeeded to narrate difficult philosophy in very simpler words.

But I guess its more than that, its not only about following the dream. “when you really want something to happen, the whole universe conspires so that your wish comes true.” This is not the only thing the author wants to tell the reader. Its much more than that.
The King Plays major role in Santiago’s life. He helps him to follow his dream when he is about to give up. He advices - Destiny is what you have always wanted to accomplish. Everyone, when they are young, knows what their destiny is. At that point in their lives, they are not afraid to dream and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen to them in their lives. But, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realize their destiny.
It’s a force that appears to be negative, but actually shows how to realize your destiny. It prepares your spirit and your will, because there is one great truth on this planet : whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, its because that the desire originated in the soul of the universe. Its your mission on earth.
The soul of the universe is nourished by people’s happiness and also by unhappiness, envy and jealousy. To realize once destiny is a person’s only obligation. All things are one.
Santiago, the boy, opted to be shepherd because he likes to travel whereas the baker also had wish to travel the world decided first to buy his bakery and put some money aside. The boy never thought of peoples’ mentality of thinking bakers are more important to people than shepherd. He just continued doing what he likes without thinking about society.
The king narrate a story which concludes – the secret of the happiness is to see all the marvels of the world and never to forget the drops of oils on the spoon symbolic to purpose of the life.
We should keep listening to Omen, the good signs to find the treasure, our destiny. One should learn the language of universe for the same.
Every blessing ignored becomes a curse.
The boy works with crystal seller to go back but when he collects enough money to return back he thinks for a moment before returning back and decides to head towards Egypt thinking he is two hrs closer to Egypt. That’s a positive attitude.
The Alchemist tells a story about dream of a father, an angel tells him that the words of one of his sons would be leaned and repeated throughout the world for all the generations to come. He thinks it’s the one who is poet. But it happens to be the one who goes to serve at a distant place. So the story advices, no matter what person does, every person on the earth plays a central role in the history of the world and normally he doesn’t know it.
Where your treasure is, there will be your heart. That means your heart will lead you to the destiny that’s your dream.
The peak of the story is when Santiago wants himself to turn into wind.
The desert creates game to nourish falcon, falcon nourishes man and then man nourishes the desert where the game will once again flourish. That’s what love is. It makes the game become falcon, the falcon become man and man in his turn, the desert.
The alchemist’s secret is – we have inside us the wind, the deserts, the oceans, the stars, everything created in this universe. We all are made by same hands and we have same soul. Hindu Vedas talks about same thing everything is made up of panchamahabhoota (five elements), aap (water), tej (fire), vaayu (wind), pruthvi (earth), akasha (sky) and eventually everything turns to panchamahabhoota.
Its true that everything has its destiny, but one day the destiny will be realized. So each thing has to transform itself into something better and to acquire a new destiny until someday the soul of the world becomes one thing only.
This is why alchemy exists. So that everyone will search for his destiny (the dream, the purpose of his existence), find it and then want to be better than he was in his former life.
Bhagvat Geeta talks the same, The God has created everyone for some purpose. When the purpose is fulfilled the life ends and new life is born. The cycle continues till the soul realizes you are same as that of creator.
Love is the force that transforms and improves the soul of the world.
We think the soul of world is perfect. But its also like other aspects of creation and has its own passions and wars. It’s we who nourish the soul of world. The world we live in will be either better or worse depending on whether we become better or worse. And that’s where power of love comes in. Because when we love we always strive to become better than what we are.
We should realize we are part of god and we have all the power to perform the miracles. This state is achieved when we see no difference in God and us. That’s what is called as achieving Moksha.
For me moral of the Alchemist is :

Whats so unique about Chetan Bhagat?
Chetan Bhagat is one more buzz word in India today. He has got unique style of writing which makes simple things very interesting. You can easily relate to his stories.
The thing I like about his books is he has small little revolutionary thoughts which he conveys in a very simpler way through his characters. I can feel his love for India in every story by him. And I feel he is trying to change the thoughts of Indian youth through his books. He might not be great writer as Arundhati Roy but he is reaching to roots of India. He criticizes the system, the characters in his stories are passionate and try to do all sort of weird stuff to make it possible which is sometimes very unrealistic.
The only thing I don’t like is at times he gets too dramatic like Bollywood movies that the story doesn’t give realistic feel and reader get feeling ‘yeh to sirf movie (CB ke stories) me hota hein’.
Do read CB’s books he is not that bad. J

Ideal Match
Thanks for the overwhelming response to my last blog. Its really good to know different views of people.
We talked about love, we talked about relationship, shall we talk about Ideal Match now?
For me Ideal Match is compatible match. The ideal for me may not be ideal for you. Everyone has some expectations for his or her dream partner. I had read somewhere, every human has emotional needs, intellectual needs and sexual needs. When these needs are met by the partner, one enjoys the relation.
I guess apart from this, your values, your beliefs, your lifestyle, your goal of life should match or compliment the other. Its very important to respect one another. One should able to accept the other with all his/her flaws. I guess one should also think about would you like the other person to be mother or father of your kid.
In India marriage is not limited to only two individuals. Marriage is a ceremony of getting two families together. So once two individuals decide to get married its equally important that both families to accept it to have smoother life ahead.
I know nothing is perfect. But we can always try to make it perfect.

The Changing Trend
Sometimes I wonder whether Bollywood influences the thinking of public or public behavor influences Bollywood.
Earlier movies used to show love between rich and poor. For the two lovers achieving their love used to be ultimate goal of the life. The commitment used to be default part of the love. Physical relation before marriage used to be taken as mistake of the life.
Now the trend is changing, people love each other but they are not ready for commitment, especially according to Bollywood movies males hesitate to give commitment. They don’t understand that they are in love. Physical relation before marriage is very common thing. I guess India is still not ready to accept girl getting into relation without commitment from her side. As of now in all movies like ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Paa’, ‘Salam Namaste’ females are portrayed to be committed.
Females are becoming independent economically and emotionally that could be the reason of this change. But I don’t understand changed behavior of guys of hesitating for commitment or they not realizing they loving someone. Why don’t they get ready to take responsibility? Somebody please help me out here to understand.
I won’t wonder if I get to see single females, single mothers living proud life. I wont wonder to see many divorcees. I wont wonder to see single fathers. I won’t wonder if concepts like ‘single woman man’ or ‘single man woman’ no longer exist in reality.

Paa – What does it want to convey? Vision India 2020?
The movie is not about the difficulties that a progeria patient has to face. It just tells you what the disease progeria is.

2 States – CB did not click this time
Well, I got disappointed with the topic CB chose, one more love story in market. For the people who like love stories might have different opinion and would love to know their views on the book. Its just CB’s writing style compelled me complete the book otherwise it’s pathetic, unrealistic. Its high time CB should write realistic stories.
The only good thing about the book is writing style which has already clicked and only one thought in book, the present generation of India should go for inter cast, interstate, inter religion marriage so that next generation of India will be only Indian.

Ladies Day Out
Last evening I spent time with my colleagues, we were roaming from 7:30 pm till 11:00 pm on Mumbai streets. Well the scene is very common here in Mumbai. Then you must be wondering what’s there to blog about it.
Yes, very true. I did not do anything which I did not do earlier. But certainly I did it after along time. After a long time I got girls company to freak out without caring a damn about the world who can enjoy late at night without boys around them. After a long time I did typical girls talk, we giggled, we shared few secrets, we shared our thoughts about life, we spoke about Mr Virappna & Mr. Osama (don’t ask what did we talk about them,that’s top secret, in next outing we will surely talk about Mr. Obama). Gals, I hope this is just a beginning.
You must be still wondering what’s so great about it. The great thing is here I get impressed with gals who can live their life independently, who can enjoy there life without males around them. I just hate girls who feel insecure when guys are not around them especially late in the evening or while traveling outside city. I can proudly say I have traveled in bus from one city to other overnight not because I had no other option. I did it because I wanted to explore life. The girl should have just little common sense what to wear, where to go, whom to talk, how to talk and how to behave nothing goes wrong (obviously there are exceptional cases but then I would say if it is destined to happen it will happen at most secured and safe place as well). Most of the girls in India have mindset of being dependant on guys whatever form as friend, as boyfriend, as husband. Once girl gets married her world is around the guy. Guys continue to enjoy their personal life but girl by her own choice is left with no personal life. But good to see that things are little changing now.
The moral I just love girls enjoying life independently. Thanks for God to give me such a amazing parents who never treated me differently because I am a girl or who never restricted me to do anything because I am girl rather they taught me right from my childhood to deal with this world. I also should thank God to give me birth in this city which treats girls with respect and equality. (Now its difficult for me to live in a place which is not safe for female)

Can somebody tell me the reason of why am I here?
Do you ever get these kind of thoughts? Or I am the only stupid to think like this?
I have read, God has purpose for every life. Then why doesn’t he disclose to every individual. If one gets to know why is he or she on this planet he will be focused and work towards it.
I believe in theory of Karma so keep doing good things is the only thing I should do I guess. How will I survive in this world then God knows.
If God has given me birth its his duty to get good things done from me. I guess I should not bother about it. What say??

Wake Up Sid
Hey guys it’s a very good movie. Do watch it.
You must be thinking whats so great about the movie to write a blog.. well… its just I liked it…too many thoughts occupied my mind… I thought I should blog it and then I decided to watch it again :)
The first thought while watching the movie, I could relate myself with Ayesha. The girl wants to be independent in life so comes to mumbai leaving her own Kolkata, she has some dreams, goal for life and she working towards it. She achieves what she wants to be and in her journey she meets a friend to share her joy, her achievements, her struggle.
And this reminded my life at Blore. Isn’t it similar? I met so many people at blore and now they are my forever friends. Doston tumhi ne to meri Blore life itni special banai.
Ayesha wants to be writer and her first article in ‘New Girl in City’ which is very much similar to my second blog (This would have been my first blog if mumbai was not gone under water) http://dilserey.blogspot.com/2005/08/my-bangalore-stay.html The only difference she makes the boy lifepartner and I had too many friends including boys and girls to be in love with :) But I miss you a lot.
Second thought, doston please watch this movie and tell me can a boy be so cute and innocent. I am yet to meet such a guy :) (I am expecting comment on this, guys n gals bas toot pado)
After that they are many good things to write about the movie… the story about Sid. Guys, I am not going to write about this as you can read reviews of this movie.

Ranbhir Kapoor.... Rishi Kapoor and Nitu Singh must be feeling very proud to see their son acting so well. Konkana was the reason for me going for this reason but Ranbhir too has acted well. Being a kid of successful parents is difficult thing. Kids get all the luxury in their early age and they have to handle the pressure of living to people’s expectations.
Fifth thought, if my mamu was there, who was writer, director, producer of few serials, I would have helped him in his work. I miss you mamu, I miss your discussions. When you were there I was too immature to help you.

Ranbhir Kapoor.... Rishi Kapoor and Nitu Singh must be feeling very proud to see their son acting so well. Konkana was the reason for me going for this reason but Ranbhir too has acted well. Being a kid of successful parents is difficult thing. Kids get all the luxury in their early age and they have to handle the pressure of living to people’s expectations.
Fifth thought, if my mamu was there, who was writer, director, producer of few serials, I would have helped him in his work. I miss you mamu, I miss your discussions. When you were there I was too immature to help you.

Lets talk about Love
There are three concepts I am curious about in my life.
First what is God, Second what is Love and third is there Ghost/Evil/Spirit in this world.
The first I have already wrote, today its time to write about second. And friends I expect lot of comments on this blog as I feel this topic is close to everyone’s heart.
Well let me start, I remember Deepika (my friend) had asked me once, “varada what is love?” and I had replied there is nothing called love. People are so practical in today’s world that I doubt people who claim theirs is love marriage, I don’t have idea about yesteryears.
I would define love = friendship + physical attraction + commitment (third might be contradictory)
When you truly love someone you feel good, you care for that person and you do the things more for other person than for self. You sacrifice for the other person and still you are happy. You just want the other person to be happy and that becomes the ultimate goal of your life. It gives different meaning to your life.
And people who get opportunity to spend entire life with their love are the people blessed by God.

My Inspiration My Idol - Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar
Dilse would not complete if I don’t blog about What is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar for me. I am not going to write about Sachin’s game or his records, you can anytime anywhere will get to read about it but just why is he Idol for me.
I was thinking of writing this since I started blogging but somehow it wasn’t coming Dilse. Yesterday he achieved one more title of highest run getter in test matches and I thought this could be the right occasion to salute the Wonder Boy.
Well I was never cricket lover till I had not seen little master batting. Sachin had debut in international cricket when he was just 16. I was just aware of this fact but not actually watched him playing. One of my friends in school was crazy for this wonder boy and I got curious to see his game. The first series I watched in 1991 sharjah series which we lost against Pakis and Sanjay Manjrekar was declared man of the series. And here onwards one more person got added to Indian cricket lovers.
After Sharjah, Indian team went on a tour to Australia followed by 1992 world cup. And Tendlya was at his best in these tournaments. News papers were flooded with the articles praising master blaster saying Sachin should bat on number 1 to 10. He was just 18 then. India lost both the series and the world cup but I had fallen in love with cricket and Sachchu:). I still remember, my 10th board exam was on and instead of last minute preparations I used to watch every ball of delivered till I leave home for my exam.
Here onwards I started reading every bit of Indian cricket, Sachin, Sanjay Manjrekar, Kapil Dev, Vinod Kambli. I started reading magazines like sports star, sports world, marathi magazine by Sandeep Patil – Shatkar..what not. I also read one Hindi magazine don’t remember the name now but I had bought it since it has some article on Sachin, I guess that’s the only one which I read in Hindi:).
His Dedication, Determination, Hardwork inspired me to be more serious, little ambitious in my studies. I had pasted Sachin’s poster in front of my seat near my study table. He was motivation for me, if Sachin can do at 16 why cant I. I just wanted (rather still would love) to be 0.01% like him.
The unique thing about him is even after being so successful, famous, rich at such a early age he is so humble so down to earth. He doesn’t get into controversies. There is no man who talks ill about him. He is God’s son to be loved by everyone. He is God to many. He is man with strong values. He exercises his vote whenever he is in country during elections. Please someone let me know one incident when he misbehaved, over reacted. He still enjoys cricket, he is still as sincere on ground as he used to be. What else one can expect from a man. For me he is the best example of great human and Indian citizen.
The wildest dream I have in my life is Sachin would know me personally:)

Beauty : Boon or Curse
This is one real story I heard it from one of my friends. The story is from Orisa. The story is of a beautiful girl from his collage. Lets name the girl Neelam.
Neelam was extraordinarily beautiful girl from middle class family studying MCA course. She was as good at her heart as she was by her looks. When she was in her final year she announced in her class that she got engaged. The proposal was from very rich well known family in the town, the family was also having some political background. Obviously everyone was very happy to know this news. From very next day Neelam started coming in a car. The driver used to wait for her till her class gets over.
And finally the D date arrived. Everyone in the class was invited for the marriage. This was the first marriage of their classmates. They reached at the wedding place with lots of enthusiasm. Their eyes were searching for the lucky chap, Mr Groom. And everyone got shock to see the groom. Few of the girls (closed friends of Neelam) started crying. Boys were confused and didn’t know how to handle their crying girl friends in wedding.
The groom was very old to the bride. Everyone was in dilemma as they should be happy for the bride as she is going to be part of the very rich and well known family or they should be sad for she is getting married to not at all good looking, older guy. The girls started crying thinking the pressure the girl and her family might have felt to say yes for this proposal as the family has political background. If they had said No to them the girl would have been in the worse situation. In short, wo log use utha le jaate.
