Mumbai & Bangalore

Heyyy blogigng after looooooooooong time. Many of you asked me for not blogging but there was no any topic which touched my heart to blog. But today I got the topic to and it clicked this way.

The TV show on CNN IBN and topic was Bangalore vs Karnatika. The occasion was Karnataka assembly elections. As I stayed in Bangalore almost for 3 years, I guess that’s enough time to fall in love with Bangalore, how can I refrain myself from blogging.

Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India. Yup, now Bangalore is nomore only of Karnatakas, it has become Mini India. People from all over India are coming to this city. And I think its gona face same problems as that of Mumbai. Karnatikas are worried about the changing culture of Bangalore. The fear of losing karnatika culture, fear of karnatika population leading towards minority population in Bangalore, rallies against non karnatikas. Similar things keep happening in Mumbai as well by Marathi people, Shivsena and now MNS. Bangalore is on the same line.

I really don’t know what is right and what is wrong, Mumbai has lost its identity as Marathi Mumbai long back. People from all the parts of India come here and stay together. Same way I did not face any problem being non karnatika at Bangalore. But yes, Bangalore is changing rapidly. The change is inevitable but still I feel the city should not lose its own charm.

IT city is getting young crowd in the city, most of this people are staying without family, so no family restrictions on them. Bangalore is also getting famous for night life. But unlike Mumbai unfortunately the night life in bangalore is just limited to pubs and bars. IT industry has raised the living standards but at the same time the city is getting costlier. The other industries in city should also see growth along with IT industry.

I just know people in India people should live in harmony, we should not lose our culture, identity at any cost and the same time cast, religion, language, culture should not be bars in our growth as India.

This is really nice as you can foresee a bigger problem. I was in bangalore for 2 yrs and did not face this... however I heard this is happening in bangalore when i was in mumbai and few of my friends actually moved out to north....people from outside bangalore are getting much higher salaries and locals are getting nothing... that is the reason for increase in crime rate and recently govt requested reservation for locals in IT firms so that they can match the speed...not sure about mumbai as it is already at this place when i was there for 1.5 yrs...

I think bangalore or karnataka has the highest number of engineering colleges in india. the place is attracting talent and now once it reaches saturation cities nearby will pick up, the money helps the city. the city doesnt help itself, infrasturcture etc is a long standing pain.. and as the deamand for a place near home for the norhties goes up places like gurgaon will share the burden that bangalore in the yesteryears has been taking on...
i would love to see some of your experiences ( this is good for times of india but we need more from dil se re! )
kya bolti !
cheers

I dont think reservation is right idea at least in private sectors and the posts which demand talent. Norhties moving to delhi and other nearby places is only because they want to move to close to their home

you may be right here but at one point i was thinking of settling in bangalore however seeing the kind of changing culture and of course being a new person in the town small bad things encourage to move back your home... however mumbai is still great and I really liked it for the marathi people who are still very helpful and socially active. bangalore is still a hot destination for IT and I can see all Finance firms coming to mumabi to open up their office....

Well i have never stayed in b'lore for more than 10 days .. so only can say about mumbai.. There is issue going on in mumbai for localites ..and i feel these is more political issue .. as since ages there is mix culture in mumbai and you can not remove or restric pepole who are coming to mumbai .. if that is being done then basic rights of indian is being violated.. i donnt belive in reservations and all.. but still goverment can do something for lower income levels .. thats also true for cast reservations for education that is being done by govt .. hey varda why donn u right something abt it ...

well said Dipa, Its been ages non maharashtirans are staying in Mumbai and they are not considered to be outsiders rather they should not be. so the term localite is nomore maharashtrian for mumbai.

This is what gloabalization is! It is good, if you are doing well. It is bad, if you are not doing well.

Lets talk about Bihar. What happens if one day Biharis say that we will not give coal to non - Biharis. Or lets say, they contribute to 75% of coal production and say we want 75% coal to be reserved for Biharis. What argument does these politicians (from Bombay, Bangalore) and other people who support them have for this? Can they survive if Bihar stops giving them coal?

Hey Varada,
I guess I would the guy who would criticize the article the most :) So,get ready for it.... IMHO, neither Mumbai is about Maharashtrians and Karnataka is about Kannada...Sure,the name came from their origin but that is all past and time has changed completely...I guess, we as Indians should not take what others are saying blindly but should always try to question the same...What Raj Thakray has done in Mumbai is all Nonsense...He tried his level best to be in the limelight , thats it....Neither is he bothered about Mumbai and nor about the public...As at the end of the day, Whoever has talent would win..

Imagine, if Sachin Tendulkar would not have been a Maharashtrian , he would still be the pride of Mumbai, so where does such a point come into picture....

Also, one more point is Globalization...If people from other cities/countries, dont come to Mumbai/Bangalore/other cities, the BRAND wont be created and less would be the opportunities and less would the FDI in city...

I recently came across a site called www.wemarathi.com which was launched after all the problems were created by Raj Thakray and all such things are nonsense...Such politicians are the ones who spoil the name of the city and should be thrown out from the city since they are the kachra in the city and they would spoil the entire city ...I would say ASSASSINATE Raj Thakray...

Same was the case in Ahmedabad during the Godra Riots(it was never Hindu Vs Muslim) , it was politicians who created the problem and Modi got the uplift...

At the end of the day, POLITICS is a dirty (but a money making) game and such things are a result of politics....

The weakest thing in Indians is religion and RELIGION is a jackpot for all politicians ..... We should unite and do a HALLA BOL against such politicians , rather than saying "Mumbai Kiska?" ... Sometimes, I feel POLITICS and RELIGION are the two most profitable businesses in India since you get money and respect, without doing any work :)

To conclude:
1. People who have the power would succeed (does not matter if you are a non-maharastrian in Mumbai or a Non-Kannadiga in Bangalore).

2. Mumbai is a BRAND because of it's diverse culture ... Imagine, if during the blasts, would a Non-Muslim help a muslim[Yes, he would] .... He wont go and ask if that person is a Maharashtrian or not....So this spirit keeps Mumbai alive :)

3. Point to ponder: If the great Raj Thakary would not have created this mess, you would'nt have come up with this article, so that sums it all... It is never about Maharashtra but about publicity :)

Hope I am not too Blunt ...

I think Raj Thackrey just replied to political movement of Amarsingh and his company who celebrated UP din and did Shaktipradarshan at Mumbai.
